QuickStart Guide

The QuickStart guide is intended to get you up and running in a matter of minutes. For more detailed information please refer to our FAQ.

(1) Our 3D Service

The Live Web service lets you host, annotate and share Collada 3D files. Most major 3D content creation tools export to Collada (DAE), see the 'Supported 3D Tools' list to the right for more details.

Once you have signed up;

  • You'll create a new workspace
  • Upload your files into it
  • Convert your Collada files to Live Web 3D Webdocs
  • Invite others to the workspace to see the 3D Webdocs
  • Make notes on your Webdocs
  • The Email Notification service keeps everyone in the loop

That's it! Enjoy!

(2) Tip-of-the-Day

Make sure when you upload your Collada files, to stick the model (.dae) file and all of the texture files (.jpg, .png, etc) in the same folder. That way the converter won't have to go searching around for them.

Check Your System

The Browser Certification gadget on the left will be checkmarked  if your web browser meets our minimum requirements.  Otherwise, it will display a failure or a warning .  Click the Browser Certification gadget for details.

In order to share your first document you will require:

  2. a password
  3. a file to share

You can upload multiple files using a zip file. You can auto-extract a zip file by clicking on the auto-extract checkbox.
Once you have selected your file, click "Upload".

Your file will upload. Click "Cancel Upload" to cancel your upload and start over.

(6) Converting Your 3D Files

Make sure when you upload your Collada files, to stick the model (.dae) file and all of the texture files (.jpg, .png, etc) in the same folder. That way the converter won't have to go searching around for them.

(7) Share Your Document

Select the document that you would like to share from your newly created "WorkSpaces" folder.

Click the "Share" tab or right click on the file and enter the email address of the person you wish to share the file with.

From this tab you will also be able to choose whether the person you share the file with will be able to mark up the file (as a "collaborator") or just view the file.
