Introduction

The Live Web Platform from Aftercad

The Live Web Platform represents a revolutionary step in delivery of complex visual data and social media across the web. Live Web eliminates the need for proprietary and restrictive client side software to engage users with a broad spectrum of high visual quality and dynamic media. Live Web is the first platform of its kind to go beyond video, allowing direct access via the web browser for complex visual media for CAD, GIS, maps, games and virtual goods. This means that vendors can now literally offer live and interactive CAD, social media, gaming and virtual environments right in the browser without the need for any special software on the users computer. Live Web removes all barriers to access.

Absolute zero barrier access opens up a whole new potential for Software-as-a-Service and social media deployment. For example, where you used to have to distribute a 3D part with the viewing technology, now you can simply post and share the 3D part like Youtube(tm). Modern 3D Games require downloading a game app and waiting for gigabytes of content to load, now that can all be done away with and the user simply clicks a link and is in the game instantaneously. Virtual goods can be fully 3D, animated, interactive, sound tracked and dropped directly into Facebook without a clunky viewer app. Worlds like Second Life can be accessed from anywhere with a browser without having to install anything first. This becomes even more poignant considering the explosive growth of mobile usage and the processing power restrictions on mobile. Live Web is able to deliver social media effortlessly to mobile devices as all of the heavy lifting is being done server side.

The Live Web platform is a game changer. Now that complex visual media publishers can remove all barriers to immediate content access, this opens up incredible new potential to spread these new media across the entire web including mobile. The exact trajectory complex visual and social media will take in the future is difficult to predict but the Live Web Platform will be there to accelerate the adoption of whatever media formats take hold and deliver a consistent media experience to the user where ever they are in the real world.
